Ellen Campbell
Ellen began playing the piano when she was seven years old and took up the trombone three years later. Growing up, she played in a variety of local, county and regional orchestras including the Staffordshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and Midland Youth Orchestra. At the age of 16 she gained a place in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain where she held the position of Principal Trombone.
Having always loved Musical Theatre, she began playing in local amateur dramatics shows, including Me and My Girl, Anything Goes, High Society, The Hot Mikado and Hello Dolly.
After gaining a degree in Media, Ellen moved to Brighton where she currently teaches the piano and plays the trombone in the original funk/pop band The Grand Majestic.
Ellen is delighted to be making her debut as Musical Director for City Youth Theatre Company’s production of Les Misérables School Edition, and would like to thank Richard, Claire, the cast and all involved for all their hard work and making the whole experience so enjoyable, with a special thanks to Tania and Gary for making her job a whole lot easier!
