Katy Markey
Katy has been performing for 22 years and is now a teacher in the 3 main performing arts disciplines - dance, drama and singing. Having lived most of her life in Brighton, Katy has also trained in London at the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and taught in several other countries including Italy, Australia and Canada. Katy is an experienced Nanny and has always welcomed the chance to combine her love of children with her love of the performing arts.
Katy balanced performing with teaching for a while, most recently playing the Wicked Queen in Snow White, but has taken a break from performing since the birth of her 5 month old daughter. Katy is the Singing Tutor for theatre arts school, Stagecoach Hove, private tutor, vocal coach at Patcham High School, performing arts tutor for Activ 4 Tours and co-runs her own production company, Buxbaum Productions and entertainment company, Wonderland Entertainment www.wonderlandentertainment.co.uk.
Katy has been teaching dance, drama and singing, and been choreographing, for a number of years and has choreographed for many local theatre groups. She began her teaching experience at the age of 16 at The Doris Isaacs School of Dance in Brighton (where she had trained herself) and went on to teach for the J.D and Splitz Schools of Dance, taking the position as Principal for one year. Katy is thrilled to be a part of CYTC's Billy Elliot as it is one of her very favourite shows and she has been blown away by the talent of the cast.
