Billy Showcase at the Brighton Dome

21 Jun 2010

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Brighton Dome Billy Showcase on Saturday 19 June!

The company gathered at the Dome at 7.50am for a day of technical rehearsals and workshops before curtain up at 7pm.

CYTC dazzled not only on stage but off, when they took part in a professionally led dance workshop taken by Damien Delaney (West End choreographer).

Lee Proud – resident Billy choreographer in the West End – introduced the show, in which the scenes were shared between eight theatre groups from across the southern region. CYTC performed Act 1, Scene 3 (Boxing); Act 2, Scene 1 (Christmas, including the songs 'Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher' and 'Deep into the Ground'); and Act 2, Scene 6 (London, including 'Electricity').

The feedback from Rebecca Fidler (Learning, Access and Participation Manager for the Dome) says it all:

"Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for making Saturday such a resounding success. Despite the later than scheduled start everything ran so smoothly… thank you all for being so cooperative and lovely all day! All the young people were amazing, so helpful and polite… and the standard of performance really high – Working Title representatives were very impressed and all the staff here had a fantastic day!
"Thanks again and I hope to see you all in the future!"
