Billy Elliot the Musical
Billy Youth Theatre
To celebrate five amazing years in the West End, the producers of Billy Elliot the Musical launched Billy Youth Theatre, an exciting new initiative providing schools and youth groups (aged 10-19) around the country with the opportunity to perform their own productions of this internationally award-winning show.
An amazing 115 schools and youth organisations from across the country took on the challenge of staging their very own version of Billy Elliot, and City Youth Theatre Company is thrilled to have been part of this wonderful experience.
Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall, together with Martin Koch (Musical Supervision and Orchestrations), adapted their original script and orchestrations to produce a shortened version of the show exclusively for Billy Youth Theatre.
Regional show case
In March each participating group had to send a DVD with an excerpt or excerpts from their local production for review by the BYT team. (The gallery has photos taken on the day we made our DVD). As a result we were chosen to appear in a regional showcase of the show at the Dome Theatre in Brighton on 19 June 2010, performing the show with other selected companies. West End Gala
We were so honoured to have also been offered the opportunity to follow in the steps of Billy and perform at the Billy Youth Theatre West End Gala at the Victoria Palace Theatre, Billy's London home, on 18 July 2010.
